J. D.--Worshipful Master, there is an alarm at the inner door of our Lodge.

Many players hit or jerk the ball, and this is bad. There is nothing that pays so well on the green as the easy follow-through stroke. And the best of putting maxims is the oldest of them all, namely: 'Never up, never in.'"

I think that the follow-through should be as long as it is possible to make it without straining it, and, with this object in view, I suggest that, at the moment of striking the ball, the grip of the fingers of the left hand should be considerably relaxed in order that the right hand may go on doing its work without the slightest interference from the other.

Of course, spamming evolves, just like any major phenomenon on the internet. Some filters are applied to avoid the spammed message reaching destinations with an extremely low probability of reply. Still, spamming is far from being a personal message with a concrete and meaningful content for both parties.

W. M.--The Junior Deacon's place?

As a professional working in academia, I am already used to the traditional spamming messages from (sometimes untrustworthy) publishing companies, praising my research and urging me to take the opportunity of publishing my work in a journal. As expected, the vast majority of those messages are truly spam. However, one of them stands out as a different kind of spam. I call it second-level spamming. Check out the start of the email that I am referring to:

W. M.--Your duty there, brother Junior Warden?

Junior Warden, one. Master one the second time, which is responded to by the wardens a second time, in the west and south, when the master makes the third gavel sound, which is responded to by the Wardens. These three raps are made, when opening the Lodge on the Third Degree; if opening on the Second, two raps only are used; First Degree, one rap each, first given by the Master, then Senior Warden, lastly Junior Warden. After which the Master takes off his hat, and repeats the following passage of Scripture:--

W. M.--I now declare this Lodge opened on the First (or, as the case may be) Degree of Masonry. Brother Junior Deacon, you will inform the Tyler. (Deacon opens the Lodge-door, and delivers his message to the Tyler.)
