ChemInform Abstract: Palladium-Catalyzed Reactions …

We present the mild and facile synthesis of oxazole compounds through the Pd-catalyzed cycloisomerization/allylation reaction of propargyl amide derivatives with allyl carbonates. Thus, in the presence of Pd2(dba)3-Cy3P catalyst, imidazolium salt, and Cs2CO3, propargyl amides react with allyl carbonates to give the corresponding 2,5-disubstituted oxazoles having homoallyl groups. Although the incorporation of aryl and acyl groups into the oxazole derivatives by Pd-catalyzed reaction of propargyl amides have been reported by several research groups, the present reaction provides us with new and useful incorporation procedure of unsaturated side chain into the oxazole derivatives, which are prevalent in a wide variety of biologically active compounds and synthetic intermediates.
